Workshop Description

Do you own your own business? Would you like to make your own assets for all your social media channels, business cards and more? Then this is the class for you! This course is designed with the entrepreneur in mind. If you are looking to produce your own graphics for your company’s promotional material, this course will prepare you to create material for both print or screen output.

Skills Covered

This course will teach the basics of creating scalable vector graphics for print, or screen use. This course will introduce students to Inkspace, a free online substitute for software costing 100’s of dollars, such as Adobe Illustrator. Students will learn how to create Bézier curves and shapes to create scalable graphics for use in logo design, business cards, flyers, signage, or online graphics needs. On completion of this course, students will understand the tools and terminology of scalable vector graphics and be able to create their own graphics for their business promotional materials.


This course is to cover three sessions. The first session will cover the introduction to the software and terminology of vector graphics. We will learn how to create a logo design using Bézier curves. In future classes we will look at using these vector graphics in producing business cards, flyers or other print-based materials. We will also look at creating screen-based graphics for use on social media such as Facebook.

Target Audience

This beginner course is geared to anyone interested in starting their own business.


Students should feel comfortable with Windows-based computers and understand how to work with files or simple applications.
